Danganronpa is a darkly funny horror series filled with plenty of shocking twists and turns. The series, which launched in 2010, now spans four major video games and five spin-off anime shows. It all begins at Hope's Peak Academy, where 16 students fight for survival against a sinister mastermind and their deadly traps. As the students are eliminated one by one, they come to realize that the biggest threat may not be the mastermind but each other.

Fun Facts
Kazutaka Kodaka is Danganronpa's creator, writer and director. His favorite character in the series is Monokuma because he claims that he can make the bear say anything he wants without fear of repercussions. The truth bullet system he created is based on an online Japanese video platform called Niconico, which allows viewers to share comments and reactions to footage in real-time.
In 2007, Spike created a prototype visual mystery murder novel, DISTRUST, for the Sony PlayStation Portable. However, the game was scrapped before release because much of its content was deemed too violent for general audiences. It served as a precursor to the first game released in the series, Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc. Many of the characters from DISTRUST made it into that game, although the names and appearances were changed for some.
