He left several years worth of future plans, which the company has implemented. Although the company has expanded into live-action feature films, theme parks and publishing, cartoons and animation have remained one of its main areas of endeavor. Did you know that Mickey Mouse was almost named Mortimer Mouse? Walt Disney drew him for the first time while riding on a train in 1928. He was consoling himself after a particularly disappointing business meeting. When Walt showed his wife, Lily, the sketch he'd drawn, she said the name Mortimer was far too pompous for the cute little guy and suggested Mickey instead. Mickey Mouse has become a household name, beloved by young and old alike and mascot of the multinational corporation, Walt Disney Studios.
Among many other cartoon adventures, Mickey Mouse actually married Minnie Mouse in 1991. Two Disney names almost nobody is familiar with are Wayne Allwine and Russi Taylor. Wayne Allwine voiced Mickey for 32 years. He met Russi Taylor when she became the voice of Minnie Mouse, and the two tied the knot. They were happily married for almost 20 years until Allwine's death in 2009.
