TriviaThe Mysterious Benedict Society is a mystery adventure television series and a book series, which the television series is based on. It focuses on the adventures of four exceptional children who each have some special gift, such as solving puzzles or athleticism. They are brought together by the mysterious, eccentric and narcoleptic Mr. Benedict, who needs their special skills to stop his evil twin, Mr. Curtain, from taking over the world with his nefarious brainwashing scheme.

Fun Facts
Many of the characters’ names are jokes referencing something about the characters themselves. There’s Captain Noland, who wants to spend his life at sea, for example. (No land, get it?) Constance Contraire is, as her name suggests, constantly contrary. Number Two, which is a type of pencil, is the code name of a woman named Pencilla. And S.Q. Pedalian, who has very large feet, has a name that is a play on the Latin word “sesquipedalian,” which means “a foot and a half long.”
Solving puzzles and figuring out mysteries is a big part of this series, starting with the Test the kids have to take to get accepted into the Society. To give fans of such things some extra fun, Trenton Lee Stewart (the creator of the series) has released a book of puzzles, riddles and conundrums titled Mr. Benedict’s Book of Perplexing Puzzles, Elusive Enigmas, and Curious Conundrums. It’s written as if it were actually written by Mr. Benedict.
